When Life gives you demons by Jennifer Honeybourn

The only regret I have , is waiting all this time to read this amazing book . I received a copy two years ago from the author as I won one of her Instagram giveaways but didn’t start reading it until last week .

It is definitely one of my new favorite fantasy book , I only gave it 4/5 because I simply need more , it was too short , there are still many things I wished to read about .

Jennifer Honeybourn writing style was incredible , Unlike most of the current fantasy books which you need to read more than 100 pages to start enjoying the story , this book was captivating from the first chapter .

Honeybourn’s writing style was simple , entertaining and amazing .

I liked all the characters of this book , uncle Roy , Shelby , Spencer , they were fascinating to read about .

It was really a great change to read about a high school romance where the heroine fall in love with a responsible , sweet , dedicated and generally good guy , Not a brooding , drug addicted , asshole like most young adult fantasy books LOL .

I loved how the author combined both fantasy and contemporary vibes . The story was not heavy in the fantasy aspect. It has been a long time since I enjoyed such a sweet light fantasy book .

And lastly , I really admire how the story focused on the importance of family and relationships in the time of need . .

Highly recommended .

Goodreads Synopsis :

Sixteen-year-old Shelby Black has spent the past year training to be an exorcist. Her great-uncle Roy—a Catholic priest and Shelby’s guardian—believes she has a gift for expelling demons, and he’s put her through exorcist boot camp hell, but he still doesn’t trust her to do an exorcism on her own.

High school is hard enough without having to explain that you fight demons for a living, so Shelby keeps her extracurricular activity quiet, especially from Spencer, her cute math tutor. Secrets run in Shelby’s family, though: her mother has been missing ever since an exorcism went horribly wrong, and Uncle Roy is tight-lipped about it. But Shelby’s hell-bent on finding her mom, no matter what—even if what it ends up costing her, her soul AND a date with Spencer.

As Always , thanks for reading .

Until next time .

Be kind and stay strong .
